Check out our new shirt! It's AWESOME!
You have finally made the decision to get started on a healthier life; now what? Getting started is the hardest part of the process, once you have made the choice to make some changes- where do you begin? You may know to workout and eat “healthy”, but what workouts do you do? What healthy food do you eat? There are so many diets you may have heard of that your head is spinning. You go on instagram or google, and all the workouts are incredibly intense, and being done by people with shredded six packs. All of this was overwhelming and intimidating for us too, but don’t freak out!
The first thing you want to do is make some goals for yourself that aren’t inspired by other people. These are goals YOU want to be able to reach, do not let criticism from outside sources prevent you from making a goal that will make you happier. Don’t make all your goals physical either: a big booty or six pack aren’t going to pop up over night, so make some goals that aren’t focused on that. Say “I want to be able to do 20 squats every day for a week”, or “I want to be able to do 10 REAL push-ups”. Now that you know what you want, you need a realistic way to get there. If you want to be able to do 10 push-ups, start with your knees on the ground. After a few weeks do half with your knees on the ground, and half on your toes. If you want to make your way into the gym, start going once or twice a week. Start with small changes that will not overwhelm you, a fitness journey is one that will take months and years- so you’ll have plenty of time to progress!
If you want to start eating healthier, start eating two healthy dinners at home per week; or cut out one of your sodas per day. It may feel like these things are insignificant, but as these small changes add up, you will begin to see some pretty significant results. Lastly, be kind to yourself. Progress is not linear! You will have ups and downs. You will give 100% sometimes and feel like you are getting no results, and you will give 20% sometimes and feel like you have had all the results. Sometimes your body will work with you, and sometimes it will work against you. Love it how it is now, actively make the changes you want to make to reach your goals you have set, and when you reach those goals you will love it even more. Progress may be slow, and everyone veers off course sometimes, but whatever you do- DON’T QUIT!
